Mixed reactions trail Genevieve Nnaji’s cleavage baring dress at AMVCA

For years, Nollywood power diva, mother of one and award winning actress Genevieve Nnaji or Genny as her close friends call her has maintained a fashion signature that depicted her as a bold, confident, very Miss Independent kind of lady; her dresses were never revealing, her make-up far from over-done, her hair-do and body carriage showed her class as a woman not ready to flirt around; but last weekend at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards held at the Eko Hotel and

 Suites in Lagos, Genny stunned everyone!!!.

She appeared on the red carpet in a dazzling white piece dress and eyes, mouths around her popped open in shock. Genevieve had her parted cleavage area bare for everyone to see; her light fabric dress hid just half her breast.

Genevieve Nnaji at AMVCA … is this going too far?

It’s not the Genevieve Nnaji everyone used to know. She flicked across the red carpet and photographers, cameramen fell over themselves; pausing when she paused and falling apart again when she moved.

She was bold, staring everyone in the eye. She answered questions and still had that mighty presence that made her Genevieve Nnaji … but her dress was the ticking attention.

Clearly not all of the eyes and mouths popped because they felt she looked stunning. Genny is at the moment being lashed left and right on on-line media and social networks.

It is important to note here that Genevieve was not the only celebrity wearing a dress that showed a lot of skin, Karen Igho of Big Brother Africa was also in a daring dress of her own with half her cleavage exposed.

However it’s Genevieve Nnaji everyone is talking about. Her critics claim the dress was outrageous and completely undeserving of the character she had etched for herself over these years. Her formidable supporters however feel otherwise. In their generous chorus, they insist Genny only tried to make a statement as a very dynamic and unpredictable woman backing up their claim with the fact that she had quickly switched back to a more modest yellow clad dress that had her amply covered.

But then statement or no statement. Do you think Genevieve Nnaji went too far in this dress?
